EDM Challenges #142 (HOT) and 143 (SPICES)

EDM Challenge #142:  Draw Something Hot:

When I looked for something "hot" all I had to do was look at the small burns on my fingers.  I toast English muffins and bagels in a toaster oven daily - and as often as I remind myself that all parts of the appliance are HOT, I burn a finger or two!

EDM Challenge #143:  Draw Spices or Herbs

I love cinnamon, even mixed in with my vanilla ice cream.  And I love anise - and the fascinating shape of star anise.  So it wasn't very difficult for me to quickly find spices for sketching.

These are great Shirley! And so is the Halloween House!

I love looking through all your sketches -- really great work here!
And cinnamon on vanilla ice cream is wonderful! I also use it to top mugs of cocoa, hot cider and oatmeal.

Karen, I love your work....it has a fresh simplicity and subtle coloring, and the themes and writing are personal and fun. Your spices are great. Funny how you got that haunted house on this day!

OK I don't want to look like a blog-stalker, and I've already left several comments today, but i do have to say that I have a rather nasty burn on my left hand from this very device - a toaster oven - excellent at catching the hand as it reaches in for a slice of garlic parmesan toast or early morning breakfast toast - yikes! Your sketches are delightful, and spot-on for reality checks :)
