Every Day in May: May 22nd

85219984@N00.jpg No work today and beautiful sunshine.  My husband and I wandered through a fantastic Picasso lithograph exhibit at Helly Nahmad Gallery and then I stopped 10 blocks from home to add a page to my NYC Journal.  This really interesting little store has a very narrow facade, and is squeezed between two large buildings on E. 78th St.  The large banner attracts attention from Madison Avenue and the very sedate sign next to the gate says that it is a "unique, chic haven for brides."

Just lovely Shirley and sounds like a charming shop!

Shirley, this is a wonderful example that a drawing can show much more than a photo! You captured the s p i r i t of the place. I especially like the entrance. It looks so elegant, together with the light colours you always use. I like it a lot. And you have a nice style!

Hi Shirley, I've had an enjoyable time browsing through and reading your posts. I really liked your take on the hair challenge and what an interesting Bridal Store. Great job and nice blog ~ :)

Great drawing here, Shirley! I love the gate and your delicate colors. The inclusion of the window mannequins at the back, adds a nice touch to the composition.
Well done
Ronell

Gosh, you do so wonderful with buildings!! Love this one too.

This is a great drawing! Love the muted colors and the scene.

what a wonderful little bride haven and you've made it seem almost magical. I found a very unique shop in NYC when I was there 2 years ago. It's near the Natural history museum: Maxible and Mandible. I had to ring the doorbell to be let in and then was facinated by their display of oddities. I came home with a magnifying glass necklace and a racoon "penis" bone! I love your NY sketches and hope it won't be too long before I make another trip!

What a wonderful little find tucked away there. I love seeing your snippets of NYC, a place I love so much but haven't been in years.

This is lovely. You have a charming style!
