Central Park, New York City

My husband and I take care of our youngest grandchild on Fridays and when weather permits, love to walk him in his stroller to the Boat Pond Cafe in Central Park. It is just opening most Fridays when we arrive to get our coffee. This week Park crews had heavy equipment cleaning up mud debris from the Thursday evening thunderstorms. My grandson, who turned 1 at the end of July, had a wonderful time sitting in one of the big chairs with us, eating snacks, and watching the bright yellow vehicles moving around the walkways.
Moleskine watercolor journal, Pigma micron pens, and mostly Winsor-Newton tube paints. The base layer of paint copper roof and awning were done with Daler-Rowney viridian from my cylinder travel set.

I loved the story you wrote about this post on EDM. It was very touching. The drawing is lovely as well. How lucky your grandkids are to have loving doting grandparents taking them places and sending them handmade postcards. I so cherish my memories of my grandmother and I'm sure your grandkids will cherish these times too. I'm also so envious of your living in NYC. I lived there for a year in my 20s and loved it and dream of returning, if only for a few days visit. I went back about 10 years ago and brought my then 16 year old son and took him to some of my favorite places. I keep waiting for there to be a "can't miss" exhibit at one of the museums so I take the leap and make travel plans. Thanks for a little peak at NYC!

Shirley,
Nice drawing. New York is a very electric, vibrant city. I particularly like the Village.
